Palar Agricultural College conducted the 21st Parthenium Awareness Week and Eradication Campaign on the college campus to create awareness among students, farmers, and the public about the harmful effects of the Parthenium weed and the importance of its eradication.
The awareness rally was flagged off by the College Principal, Dr. Tamilselvan. Students actively participated in the rally by carrying awareness placards, raising slogans, and distributing awareness leaflets to the public. The initiative aimed to promote awareness about the adverse impacts of Parthenium on agriculture, the environment, and public health, while encouraging community participation in its management and eradication.
The programme was attended by General Manager Mr. Srinivasan and Assistant Professors Mr. Alagumurugan, Dr. Sangameswari, Mr. Sushanth, Dr. Palanisamy, and Dr. Vennila, along with students and more than 20 local farmers.
The campaign highlighted the importance of collective efforts among agricultural institutions, students, farmers, and the local community in managing Parthenium weed and promoting a healthier and sustainable agricultural environment.
Palar Agricultural College continues to promote agricultural awareness and community participation towards a Parthenium-free environment.
