Palar Agricultural College participated in the Meeting on Student Discipline, Safety, Welfare and Drug-Free Educational Institutions, held on 25 August 2026 at the Vellore District Collectorate Campus. The meeting brought together school and college principals, institutional heads and college professors to discuss measures for strengthening student safety, discipline and welfare.
The meeting was conducted by the Police Department under the guidance of SP Thiru. N. U. Sivaraman, I.P.S., and ASP Thiru. B. S. Dhanush Kumar, I.P.S., along with other police officials.
Key Areas Discussed
The session focused on several important aspects of student welfare and institutional safety, including:

  • Prevention of drug abuse and development of Drug-Free Zones
  • Student discipline and behavioural monitoring
  • Cybercrime awareness and responsible mobile-phone usage
  • Women and child safety
  • Campus security and CCTV surveillance
  • Hostel and transportation safety
  • Traffic awareness and helmet safety
  • Parent–teacher coordination and student counselling
  • Appointment of nodal officers for safety and welfare
  • Prevention of violence and promotion of peaceful behaviour
  • Immediate reporting of missing persons and suspicious activities

The police officials emphasized the importance of teachers and institutional authorities in identifying behavioural changes among students and providing appropriate guidance, counselling and support.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of cyber safety, including awareness about online financial fraud, cyber blackmail, hacking, OTP security and other cybercrime-related risks. Participants were informed about the 1930 Cybercrime Helpline and the official cybercrime reporting website.
Traffic and campus safety were also discussed, with emphasis on helmet usage, responsible driving, avoiding speeding and bike wheeling, and ensuring the safety of students travelling by institutional buses.
The meeting concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, providing institutional representatives an opportunity to seek clarification and guidance on student safety, drug prevention, cybercrime, traffic safety, campus security and student welfare.
The Police Department emphasized that the active participation of teachers, institutional heads, parents, security personnel and students is essential for creating a safe, disciplined and drug-free educational environment.
