World Elephant Day 2025 was celebrated at Palar Agricultural College, Vellore, to raise awareness about elephant conservation and human-animal coexistence. The event was jointly organized by the college and the Vellore Forest Division. Mr. Sushant Baswant, Assistant Professor (Forestry), delivered the welcome address. A special address was given by Dr. N. Tamilselvan, Principal of Palar Agricultural College, who emphasized the ecological importance of elephants and their crucial role in maintaining forest ecosystems. Mr. Manivannan, Assistant Conservator of Forests, read the Elephant Day Pledge, which was repeated by the staff and students. Mr. T.K. Ashok Kumar, IFS, District Forest Officer, spoke about the challenges of human-elephant conflict and stressed the need to promote coexistence between humans and wildlife. Mr. Manivannan further highlighted the importance of community participation and youth engagement in preserving biodiversity. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. T. Santhoshkumar, Student Club Secretary, who expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries, organizers, and participants.
