A crucial awareness program was held on 5th April, 2024, to address sexual harassment of women in workplaces. Around 90 staff members and 320 students participated, including teaching staff and non-teaching staff. Speakers included Dr. Sivaji Rao – District Psychiatrist (Vellore) and Mr. Kumaragurunathan – Medical Counsellor, who discussed the psychological impacts and prevalence of harassment, as well as the unique challenges faced by women in the workplace. Mr. S.V. Prabhu gave an introductory speech about the chief guest, Mrs. S. Sathya – Internal Complaints Committee (Convenor) explained the legal framework surrounding sexual harassment, including the POSH Act of 2013. Dr. S. Manikandan, Principal (i/c) provided an overview of measures for preventing harassment, while Dr. Y. Hariprasad, Professor (AEN) highlighted the community’s responsibility in fostering a culture of respect and dignity. Mr. V.E. Madhusudhanan, Administrative Officer is honouring the chief guests. The event facilitated a comprehensive understanding of the issue and reinforced the importance of proactive measures.
