Drug Awareness campaign for students

On November 6, 2024, at the Vellore Collectorate Office (A-Block, 5th floor), the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, in partnership with the Department of Children Welfare and Special Services, Vellore District, organized an Anti-Drug Abuse Awareness Program. This program aimed to educate school and college students about the harmful effects of drug use and provide resources for prevention and rehabilitation. Representing Palar Agricultural College, Dr. A. Vennila Mary (Extension Coordinator), along with students Ramesh (2021 Batch), Sathriyan (2022 Batch), Kiran (2023 Batch), and Suvanguan Prem (2024 Batch), attended the program. The event featured a talk by Tmt. V. R. Subbulaxmi (District Collector) and presentations from other experts. Interactive youth sessions provided insights into the establishment of an Anti-Drug Club, the physical and mental impacts of drug use, and strategies for prevention. Cultural activities, including awareness songs, highlighted the theme “Healthy Living, Drug-Free Life,” engaging the audience and reinforcing the anti-drug message. The initiative successfully raised awareness, encouraged open discussions on drug-related issues, and informed participants about available rehabilitation resources. The program concluded with a call to continue collaborative efforts toward a drug-free society through regular outreach and educational support.
